The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), has presented two specialised tablets to the last eight teams that reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

This is to grant them the opportunity to follow the technological advancement of the game.

The eight finalists were Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Nigeria, Madagascar, South Africa, Cote D’ivoire and Benin.

According to Mr. Raul Chipenda, the CAF Director of Technical and Development, the tablet had a pre-installed software that would give access to live statistics during matches and live streaming of the matches.

“It is pilot project and we decided to start at the quarters, incidentally the stage where Video Assistant Referees (VAR), another technology as far as the development of the game is concerned was applied.
